In Motion

September Recap

September was full –  in the best way. A little travel, a lot of practice and studying, family time, new classes, and that first feeling that the season is changing.

🌺 Hawaii

We spent a week in Hawaii as a family, and it was exactly what we needed.

We stayed at Mauna Kea Residences, right on the Pacific beach. The location was incredible – even the beautiful resorts in the area sit a little farther back, while these residences are literally on the first line of the beach.

It was also only about 30 minutes from Kona International Airport, which made getting there and back very easy.

We loved having the space and privacy of a residence while still having the ocean right outside. Definitely a place I would happily recommend for a stay.

And Hawaii, of course, was beautiful beyond expectations.

📚 Back to studying

September also felt like the beginning of a new school year for me.

For now, I’ve paused my practical courses. I keep my Ashtanga practice as my primary practice, while I still do some Vinyasa-style yoga with my students and at a studio – mostly for the community and the experience of practicing together.

I also keep Barre as part of my regular training. It has been a long-term part of my movement practice, and I like having something alongside yoga that challenges me in a different way and gives me more strength and variety.

So instead of adding another physical practice course right now, I decided to put some energy into studying the philosophy and language behind yoga.

I started two new courses:

Yoga & Vedanta
Sanskrit

We’ve only had the first couple of lectures so far, but I’m already very excited.

I genuinely love studying, and Sanskrit is particularly fascinating to me. It is the classical language in which many foundational yoga texts were written, and – as I’m discovering – it is definitely not an easy language to learn. 🙂

But that’s exactly what makes it interesting.

🧘‍♀️ Something new at Transforma Club

I added a new weekly class to my schedule:

Hips Mobility — Tuesdays

This is something my students have been asking about for quite a while, so I’m happy to finally make it a regular part of the schedule.

We’ll work on mobility, control, range of motion, and – most importantly – learning how to actually use that range rather than simply chase flexibility.

And, of course, Power Flow continues every Wednesday at 12:00 PM Central time.

🍂 Texas is finally cooling down

And then there is that very specific feeling of October arriving in Texas.

The temperatures are finally becoming more comfortable, we’re getting some rain, and the days are getting noticeably shorter.

I have to admit, the shorter days also mean something less exciting for me: my drives to Austin become harder.

I don’t love driving at night, and my regular trips to Austin are a responsibility I take seriously — so when it gets dark earlier, I simply have to plan differently.

I’m leaving earlier, not rushing, and I’ve stocked the car with plenty of things to do along the way.

Small adjustments. Nothing dramatic. Just another reminder that life is mostly about figuring things out as you go.

✨ And now… October

September was about movement, learning, family, and a little bit of transition.

October feels like a month for getting back into rhythm.

More practice. More studying. More teaching. More creating.

And probably a lot more coffee.☕️

Let’s see what this month brings.
