New Season, New Habits

September always feels like a second New Year. Once school starts, the whole rhythm of life changes – the mornings have more structure, the evenings get busier, and there’s this quiet invitation in the air to reset and realign.

This September, I’m focusing on 3 small habits that feel sustainable:

5-minute Pranayama after practice.

One of the newest things I’ve added: five minutes of pranayama after every yoga flow. I’ve never done this before, but now I see how important it is to take care of my practice, not just push through it. It’s not easy – just to sit still and do nothing, but I know exactly how beneficial it is for my nervous system and wellbeing, so I am trying to be patient and consider this just as physical practice where I can see results and progress only with consistency.

My first experience with cold plunges was tougher than I ever imagined – the water is freezing! I didn’t think it would be so hard, and trust me, I am not a wuss, but I couldn’t bring myself to submerge fully, or even halfway. So I started small: first just my ankles, then my calves, and now I can get down to my knees. It may not sound like much, but to me it’s progress.

Sprouting seeds.

One of my newest habits! I’ve started sprouting seeds at home, and I love it. They’re packed with nutrients, fresh, and so simple to grow. Adding sprouts to salads or bowls feels like I’m fueling my body with real, living food. My favorites are sunflower sprouts and mung beans. Yum!

These habits may sound simple, but they’ve transformed how I move through life. When I choose small, consistent practices over unrealistic goals, I notice I’m calmer, more resilient, and more present with the people I love.

So as we step into this new season, I’m treating September as an opportunity for transformation – an everyday reminder that it’s never too late to reset and try something new.
